The Undomestic Goddess (Fireside Book Review)

book jacketMy bookshelf is growing and growing! So many great books to read and so little time! That’s why I’m thrilled to report I finally found some time to get back to my new favorite author, Sophie Kinsella. I took a little break from the “Shopaholic” series and read The Undomestic Goddess, which my friend passed onto me a couple of months ago.

Kinsella creates the most real and adorable characters! The Undomestic Goddess is about Samantha Sweeting, a workaholic attorney, who escapes her big city life and legal career after making what she believes is an unforgivable mistake. She “escapes” to a beautiful home in the country where she is mistaken for a housekeeping interviewee. By the next morning she finds herself wearing a uniform and curtseying to her employer!

Samantha’s hilarious struggle to “domesticate” herself is very entertaining. But, the real heart of this story is Samantha’s discovery of what it is like to really have a life. And yes, life as a housekeeper ends up being a dream compared to life as an attorney!

The book has it all, suspense, humor, romance and more. Let us know what you think if you check it out.
