Sesame Street: The Best of Elmo CD Review
Like my mother before me, I turn on PBS each morning in the hopes that my children will absorb some knowledge while I pry my eyes open with a cup of coffee. Of course, when I was little, there was no character on Sesame Street known as Elmo. I swear, that Elmo’s World theme song is my son’s morning cup of Joe. He goes crazy for it.
Luckily, I was able to score a CD of Elmo’s hit songs for review. Sesame Street: The Best of Elmo offers 15 of the little red monster’s greatest songs. Granted, there was a time when I would have pulled my hair out if I had to listen to preschool ditties like “Elmo’s Rap Alphabet.” Now, I am happy to repeatedly play it in the car if it means talking to my bank teller without the kids screaming from the backseat.
The obvious selections are here, including Elmo’s theme song and even the Sesame Street theme. Therefore, your kids should be comfortable hearing it from the first time. In fact, I first played it on my laptop and my son was staring at a blank television, completely puzzled. If your child watches Sesame Street, then he or she will surely know most (if not all) of these songs. If you stay at home with your child, then they are already etched in your brain too.
I have bought a lot of children’s albums in the past and am often disappointed by the lack of content. Honestly, the makers of these albums need to know that we will play it over and over again. Therefore, they should fill it with as much variety as possible! Luckily, the Best of Elmo is the appropriate length of a full-price album. You won’t have to start it over again after 15 minutes.
One thing I absolutely love about this album is that it closes with “Sing,” my all-time favorite Sesame Street song. This is such as sweet collection of music that will make your little one very happy. Be forewarned, however: this is not the CD to pop in as you are trying to calm the house down for bed. It really is audible caffeine for the little ones, so best to play it in the daytime or when they are safely strapped down in the car seat!
