Sesame Street: Hot! Hot! Hot! Dance Songs CD Review
If you have any Sesame Street fanatics in your house, then Hot! Hot! Hot! Dance Songs should find a welcome home in your music library. In fact, I’m sure that any preschooler would have fun dancing around to these songs. If you have watched a lot of Sesame Street, then you may recognize several of these favorites. From Elmo to The Count, many characters make an appearance on the album.
Admittedly, I wasn’t so sure about this album when I first started it.
Decades ago, I was insanely annoyed by Buster Poindexter’s “Hot! Hot! Hot!” and hearing the Sesame Street gang record a cover of it kind of made my nose wrinkle. However, my children love dancing to it and I enjoy every other song on the CD, so it’s a wash. My personal favorite is “Do De Rubber Duck” by Ernie. I love it when that segment airs on the show and I even find myself singing it in the tub at times, so I am stoked to have it on a CD now.
As I said, the whole cast is featured here, unlike other Sesame Street collections that focus on a specific character. It also seems to span just about every genre of music, from reggae to disco. As the title promises, of course, all of the songs make the kids want to dance. If you are like me, then you feel a bit guilty when the kids sit in front of the TV for too long. By playing this CD, you will feed their Sesame Street habit while encouraging them to jump around and play.
Of course, it isn’t all about the dancing. This is Sesame Street, after all, and there is plenty of education to found in some of these tunes. So, the kids will be counting while they are dancing. A math lesson and exercise rolled into one! There are 15 songs in all, so it is actually a full-length album that will keep the little ones busy for a while. Whether you are at home, in the car or even throwing a party, the kids will be occupied while you tend to important matters.
As far as kid-oriented albums go, you could do a lot worse than this Sesame Street collection. It is a lot of fun and your children will probably be familiar with the songs right off the bat. That, combined with the educational aspects, makes this a real winner. There are many Sesame Street CDs to choose from and I would say this ranks high among them.
