Saving for College? Check out these dorm prices.
My children are still pretty young, but we are already saving for college. The financial advisor tells us that my $40KÂ education will cost over $100K each for my kids. And, that’s at a state school! I understand that a 4-year private college education will run over $300K by the time my kids reach 18.
The good news is I still have about 12 more years to save up. Some of my readers, however, probably have less time, so I thought you might want to read this article I found on America’s Priciest Dorms. If any of these are on your child’s short list, maybe you can discreetly erase them!
There’s a lot of interesting information in the article, but in case you are pressed for time, here’s the 10 Priciest Dorms in the U.S.
- University of California-Berkeley
- Suffolk University
- Marymount Manhattan College
- Sarah Lawrence College
- Drexel University
- University of California Los Angeles
- New York University
- Eugene Lang College, The New School for Liberal Arts
- University of California Santa Cruz
Now, you’ll notice most of these happen to be located in high rent areas to begin with. So, don’t give up hope, if you start saving early you can still afford college!
