Pricey Parties. Do Kids Care? (Weekly Poll)
My friend passed along an article from the December issue of W magazine called “Let Them Eat Cake.” I was so shocked to learn how much money parents across the country are spending on birthday parties.
Take a full-scale carnival that includes carousels and cup-and-saucer rides for the price tag of $84,000!!!! Wow! Do you think the kids actually had $83,800 more fun than they would have had at a party at their local gymnastics place for $200?
Well, thanks for SharpMom Liz for passing this along to me, because I really got a hoot out of the article and felt much better about forking over the $200 rental fee for my son’s party in January. And, this article inspired our latest weekly poll. I want to know how much money my SharpMom readers are spending on birthday parties.
Check out the latest poll to the right and let us know:
How much would you spend on your child’s birthday party?
- Less than $50
- $50 – $100
- $100 – $200
- $300 – $500
- Over $500 (sorry, all of you spending $84,000 will just have to check this box)
Can’t wait to see your results!
