It’s Party Time, Make Sure Yours is Great (Tip of the Week)
I received a nice surprise in my mailbox last week, People Extra, Holiday 2006. The issue had lots of fun information on how various “stars” get ready for the holidays, gift guides, etc. But, my favorite part was an article called, “Four Ways to Make Your Party Fabulous.”
Holiday parties are so much fun and really get you into the spirit of the season. If you are planning on hosting one this year, these tips will really help you out.
- Send an actual invitation: A nice, printed invitation is your party’s first impression, and we all know the value of a great first impression. The invitation will set the tone for your party. A printed invitation doesn’t have to cost a fortune. You can find festive card stock and do the printing at home to cut down on costs, but if you are pressed for time, you can outsource the job and even get help with the verbiage.
- Serve a signature drink: I love this idea! First of all, it makes your party special and memorable. Plus, it actually saves you from stocking up a full bar. The article gives a couple of suggestions. My favorites are Apple Rum Punch and Snowy Cosmopolitans! I always like to have some bottled beer and red wine on hand too.
- Create ambience with candles: This is an easy and cost effective way to really set the mood. Try groups of candles in unusual places and at different levels. Consider a monochromatic theme, i.e. all white candles.
- Give guests a goody bag: Your friends will LOVE this! Another small touch to make your party really special. The article suggests: a freshly baked muffin, a holiday coffee mug and a small package of gourmet coffee. But, let your creative juices flow here. Come up with something clever that really shows off your personality.
