Decorating? Remember the 60-30-10 Rule
I’d never heard of the 60-30-10 decorating rule before, but it makes a lot of sense. The HGTV web site has an article on color tips that says when decorating a room, you should divide the colors into percentages:
- 60% of a dominant color
- 30% of a secondary color
- 10% of an accent color
Here’s a simple way to break this down: 60% of the room’s color is the walls, 30% is the upholstery and 10% is an accent piece, floral arrangement, etc.
