Try Making a Game out of it…
May 23, 2007
The kids are about to be home for the Summer. Are you wondering how you will entertain them or maybe how you will prevent them from fighting? Well, maybe you could have a few games up your sleeve.
I saw this cute article on Parents.com called “Good Behavior Games.” The article is geared towards preschoolers, but I think even elementary children would enjoy some of these simple games– all with a purpose!
Here’s my favorite one: The Same-Time Game. This game teaches that interrupting is rude (like when mom’s on the phone!). You have your children think of things you can do at the same time (i.e. clap while singing) and things you can’t do at the same time (i.e. stand up and sit down). You and your kids can take turns and have everyone come up with a few ideas. If you are lucky, maybe they will get the idea!
There are several other game ideas in the article. Check it out!
What’s Your Personal Shopping Indulgence? (New Poll)
May 22, 2007
It’s time for a new weekly poll and the question is…
What’s your personal shopping indulgence?
- Jewelry
- Purses
- Shoes
- Furnishings
- Chocolate!
Unfortunately, I indulge into each of these categories a little (and chocolate too much!). I guess I go in waves. Last year, I spent all my extra cash on shoes and jewelry and now I’m focused on home furnishings for my new house! But, I love a great purse. The problem is I’m too lazy to switch out purses everyday, so I tend to use the same one most of the time.
I’d love to hear about what other moms indulge in when they have time to shop and money to spend (or maybe you are spending money you don’t have!). Let us know!
What’s Your Favorite Reality TV show? (Poll Results)
May 20, 2007

Nearly a third of the SharpMoms voted for American Idol as their favorite reality TV show. Probably because the show will announce the new Idol this week, as they are now down to two contestants: Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis. My daughter is voting for Jordin and my son for Blake (probably just to spite his sister). It’s always fun to watch the final show!
What other reality TV shows do moms watch? Well, no big surprise that Dancing with the Stars came in second place with 23% of your votes. Another show that will wrap up this week. We lost Ian Ziering last week, so Laila Ali, Apolo Anton Ohno and Joey Fatone will battle it out for the top stop this week. I’m an Apolo fan, so we’ll see if my pick wins!
The other reality shows don’t seem to be big hits with the moms, so we’ll just focus on our two big finales this week: American Idol and Dancing with the Stars! Write in and tell us your picks!
