Britney, Britney

February 20, 2007

I’ve done a lot of posts on Britney Spears over the past six months (sort of making fun of her), but this time it’s really just sad. This girl needs some help and I hope she gets it.

In case you are the one person in America who hasn’t heard, Britney decided to shave her head on Friday. But this didn’t stop her. Over the past weekend, she was spotted partying with a blond wig. Today, she checked herself into rehab. Let’s just hope they can help get her back on track so she can go home and care for her two young boys. I mean, we don’t want them ended up with their dad, do we? Though, in all fairness, dad hasn’t been in the news as much as mom, has he?

Dining at Disney (Tip of the Week)

February 19, 2007

As part of our Disney World trip package, we purchased their relatively new dining plan. When traveling with children, I think there’s nothing better than paying for everything, including all your meals, in advance.

You can only purchase the dining plan through a Disney Magic Your Way Package.

The Dining Plan includes the following, per person for each night of your stay:

  • 1 Table Service Meal: appetizer, main course, dessert and a nonalcoholic drink
  • 1 Quick Service Meal: main course (sandwich, dinner salad, pizza, etc.) or combo meal, dessert and nonalcoholic drink
  • 1 Snack: ice cream bars, popcorn, soft drink, piece of fruit, bag of chips, etc.

Over 100 restaurants are available on the plan. Some special character meals will count as two full service meals per person. And, here’s the best part. For guests 10 and up, the price breaks down to $38 per day and for guests ages 3 to 9, $11 per day, tax and tip included. Children younger than age 3 eat free. Now, I haven’t been to Disney since I was in college, but from what I recall, a hamburger lunch could easily cost $10 or more. I think this dining plan is a really great deal. Hopefully, I’ll still think so after our trip!

A couple of my friends have used the plan in the past year and they said they had trouble actually using up all of their allocated meals and that they often had to turn down the included desserts. Hmm, not sure I see my family passing up on any free desserts, but we’ll see!

Planning a Disney Trip? (Tip of the Week)

February 12, 2007

book coverWe are planning our kid’s first trip to Disney World and boy is there a lot of planning that can go into a trip like this. I’ve been to Disney twice before and basically just showed up. But, after talking to some friends that go often with their children, I decided we might want to have a plan this time, so that we can make the most of our time before our kids hit the point of meltdown!

For starters, I purchased a copy of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2007, by Bob Sehlinger with Len Testa. It’s a little intimidating at first (818 pages!), but I got from it what I needed surprisingly fast. I highly recommend this book to anyone that is planning a trip, especially if you are going with young children and/or during a super busy time of year. We are doing both, so we had to get organized!
