How to Pose Like a Star (Tip of the Week)

April 30, 2007

I ran across an article online that caught my attention called, “How to Look Thinner in Photos.”  I thought this was important information that all SharpMoms should know!

Photos last a lifetime, so of course, we all want to look our best in them! Here are some great, simple tips from the article that will have you looking like you are walking the red carpet.

  • Turn partically sideways, planting one foot in front of the other. This cuts your body in half!
  • Pull your head forward to eliminate a double chin.
  • Hold your arms slightly away from your body.
  • Take a deep breath as you pull your shoulders back, chest forward. No slumping in photos!
  • Look away from the camera, then turn towards it, breaking into a smile before the camera clicks. This is a great tip, but my husband would really laugh at me if I did this!
  • Wear an entire outfit in just one color. Especially important if you are short!

Take a look at the full article and… one, two, three, smile!!

Do You Have a Hidden Talent?

April 25, 2007

Is it for fashion design? Well, if so, I wanted to make you aware of a fun contest that Glam.com is running.

They have teamed up with Marie Claire and created a competition for aspiring handbag designers. All you have to do is submit your sketch on Glam.com and Glam readers will vote for their favorites each week. The top eight finalists will get to actually create the handbag they sketched. Glam’s panel of judges will select a winner from the  eight finalists and fly them to New York to be a guest accessories editor at Marie Claire for the day. All of the final eight bags will be auctioned for charity on eBay.

This is the kind of thing that can make an ordinary mom that has some design talent famous. If you think you’ve got what it takes, start sketching and let us know all about your submission! If you are not an aspiring designer, then check out the other designs and cast your vote. There’s nothing better than a great bag!
