If you are like me, you are always looking for new, healthy snack ideas for your kids. It’s not too hard to make a healthy meal for my children, but I struggle with creative snacks that aren’t full of sugar.

This morning, I saw an article on Parents.com, “The 20 Best Snacks for Kids,” that I wanted to share. Some of their ideas are things you’ve probably thought of before, but the article does give creative tips on how to serve them up that you will find helpful. For instance, use mini waffles or rice cakes to create a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or add some sprinkles to a cup of yogurt. Here are more ideas:

  • Quesadillas: Even better if you can use corn or wheat tortillas. This is a favorite in my house.
  • Whole grain cereal: Cereal makes a great snack. It’s crunchy and full of vitamins. The article suggests Barbara’s Bakery Multigrain Shredded Spoonfuls. I’ll have to check that out.
  • Smoothies: Use nonfat yogurt, orange juice and a banana as the base and then add cut-up fresh or frozen fruit. Make one for Mom too!!

Take a look at the full article for lots more healthy ideas!
