What Style Swimsuit Do You Wear? (Poll Results)

March 24, 2007

bikini

Well SharpMoms, I have to say that I’m very pleased to report that 37% of you are wearing bikinis and another 37% are sporting tankinis! Way to go girls!

I noticed the other day when I was doing some grocery shopping at Target that they had a ton of swimsuits in stock and over 90% of them were bikinis and tankinis, hardly any one piece suits. Maybe they read our poll?

April is fast approaching, so if you need a new suit or two this year, you better set aside some time to shop. Don’t rush it. Swimsuit shopping is like jean shopping. It takes some time!

Watch out for our new poll coming soon! It’s going to be a fun one!

Do What You Are (Book Review)

March 23, 2007

book jacketAre you dissatisfied with your current career? Are you interested in going back to work, but unsure what you want to do? Well, maybe you should Do What You Are.

Over the weekend, I read a great book that was given to me called Do What You Are, by Paul D. Tieger and Barbara Barron. It claims that it will enable you to, “discover the perfect career for you through the secrets of personality type.”

The book starts off by explaining the four dimensions of personality type:

  • Extraversion vs. Introversion
  • Sensing vs. Intuition
  • Thinking vs. Feeling
  • Judging vs. Perceiving

You read through several pages that explain each of these in detail and you make note of which ones suit you best. Ultimately, you end up with a four letter code (there are 16 possible combinations) that defines your personality. Then you can read all about yourself. How you work with others, how you handle conflict, how you are motivated and ultimately, the best suited careers for your personality. My husband and I both worked through the exercises to determine our “personality category” and then we just laughed when we read about ourselves, because it was so true!

If you are a manager of people, this would be a great way to get to know your team better and to understand how to motivate and work with different types of people.

It was a lot of fun and will help you understand yourself better!
