Have the Movers Move it All (Tip of the Week)

Hi everyone! I’m back and we have completed our first of two moves! The only good thing about moving in December is that I haven’t spent this entire month stressing about the holidays. I’ll just have to pack all my pre-holiday stress into this week!
So, I have lots of moving tips for you, but my first one will be this week’s Tip of the Week. And, here it is. . . Have the Movers Move it All!
Since we have two local moves, I did all the packing myself. It caused me a ton of stress and took a lot of time. Plus, so many things in the home are just so hard to pack. I asked the movers how much it would have cost me if they packed it all and they said $800-$1,500. Now, this isn’t pocket change by any means, but I have to say, it might have been worth it.
Now, the one thing that I know would have been worth it is having them move all the boxes (regardless of who packed them). We packed our boxes (about 75) and then moved them to storage (with lots of helpers we are so grateful for). Turns out it would have only cost about $200 for them to do this for us. It would have saved a lot of time for us and all of our helpers, plus it would have actually been easier to pack the storage unit if it had all been moved in at one time. Well, now I know. And, lucky for me, we are doing this again in May when our new home is completed, so maybe I’ll get it right on my second try!

The day I’ve been planning for and packing for (for what seems like an eternity) has arrived! Today is move day! My computer access will be limited for a couple of days, but stayed tuned– I’ll be back to tell you all about the big move!
Just 11 more Christmas shopping days!
