You’ll Want to Show Your Hands (Tip of the Week)
August 14, 2006
For this week’s tip, I want to share one of my favorite beauty products with you. It’s an instant manicure called Show of Hands and it’s by BeautiControl. I LOVE this product and all my friends and family love it too (I’ve given it as a gift several times). It makesmy hands feel softer than they’ve ever felt before (I’ve used it on my feet too!). And, it’s saved me a couple of trips to the nail salon. I even made my husband try it and he was shocked. And, he’s not exactly a “beauty product” kind of guy.
Check it out. It’s a SharpMom favorite thing!
For more information check out BeautiControl.
Note: I will in no way profit from your purchase of any BeautiControl products. I just wanted to share a great beauty tip. We SharpMoms gotta look and feel our best!

The Best Laid Plans Often Go Astray (Motherhood & The Art of Organization, Part III)
August 11, 2006
Â
This is the third post in the Motherhood & The Art of Organization series. Last week, we focused on Each Day Starts With Coffee and a Plan. Now let’s discuss how to be flexible when those carefully laid plans go astray.
It can be so frustrating when the unexpected happens. I mean it’s not like this careful planning comes easy to us. We have the day all figured out down to the last coloring activity and then boom, there it goes. Little Susie wakes up with a fever. So much for that playdate at the park.
Here’s the key to success moms, be flexible. You are not dealing with CEOs here. You are dealing with totally unpredictable children.
So, how do we keep our plans flexible? I have a couple of suggestions:
- Don’t overschedule: You need to keep your audience in mind when you do your planning. A 4-year-old can’t go to two birthday parties, the park and the movie all in one day. Also, try to allow plenty of space in between activities. Kids move slow and most things take longer than you think they will with little ones around. Allow time for naps, snacks and just downtime in general. Small breaks here and there in the day will keep everyone feeling happy and refreshed. Read more
