The Cure for Lunch Room Drama?
August 16, 2006
I saw an ad for a book called Where Should I Sit at Lunch? The Ultimate 24/7 Guide to Surviving the High School Years. I’m thinking this is a must-read for both parents and their preteen/teenage children. I’m hearing that at my elementary school there’s a “popular” table at lunch in the 4th grade!
Harriet S. Mosatche, a co-author of this book, is known as Dr. M on the Girl Scouts of America site and Karen Unger, is a writer, editor and former manager of program development for Girl Scouts. They have broken down the high school “experience” into 10 chapters, dealing with things such as friendships, relationship with parents, jobs, preparing for the future, etc. Check it out and let us know what you think.
What to Expect in Elementary School: A Grade-by-Grade Guide
August 15, 2006
My good friend, SharpMom Lori, passed along an article from Parenting.com called “A Guide to Every Grade.” This is some good, back-to-school reading. It gives an overview of what to expect and watch out for grade-by-grade (K-5th).
My daughter (a.k.a. Her Highness) started 1st grade last week! Now she’s officially “a grader” as she calls it. No tears so far, so that’s good news, but she did already lose her lunch box (notes: lunch box was lost after eating lunch; lunch box was never lost in Kindergarten???). “It just vanished into thin air,” she explained. I’m hoping it mysteriously reappears before I buy ANOTHER new one! Isn’t back to school time fun?
You’ll Want to Show Your Hands (Tip of the Week)
August 14, 2006
For this week’s tip, I want to share one of my favorite beauty products with you. It’s an instant manicure called Show of Hands and it’s by BeautiControl. I LOVE this product and all my friends and family love it too (I’ve given it as a gift several times). It makesmy hands feel softer than they’ve ever felt before (I’ve used it on my feet too!). And, it’s saved me a couple of trips to the nail salon. I even made my husband try it and he was shocked. And, he’s not exactly a “beauty product” kind of guy.
Check it out. It’s a SharpMom favorite thing!
For more information check out BeautiControl.
Note: I will in no way profit from your purchase of any BeautiControl products. I just wanted to share a great beauty tip. We SharpMoms gotta look and feel our best!
